Class 4 Explore Ancient Egypt!

This term, Class 4 have been diving into the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt. We will be learning about pharaohs, pyramids, mummification, and daily life along the River Nile. To bring our learning to life, we visited the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

The children were amazed by the real ancient artefacts, especially the painted coffins and statues of gods and goddesses. We even saw a real Egyptian mummy! The visit sparked lots of questions and inspired some brilliant writing and artwork back at school.

As part of our English work, we are learning how to write clear and detailed instructions. Linking this to our topic, the children will write their own step-by-step guides to mummification – complete with gruesome details and historical vocabulary!

Well done, Class 4 – historians and authors in the making!

In the Autumn term your child brought home a Maths homework diary. These contain practical games that can be played at home to consolidate learning in school. Please try to play one of these games a week and record in the diary; once your child has 25 entries they will be awarded a certificate in assembly. We are yet to award the first certificate in Year 4!
