Hello and welcome to the Class 2 page,
We have had an amazing start to the academic year, the children have fully immersed themselves into our class topic ‘Castles and Dragons’.
On the second week of term we had our WoW day where the children dressed up and we spent the day designing and building castles. The children were brilliant at showcasing all the features a castle needs to protect the royal owners from its enemies!

On the third week of term, Class 2 went on a school trip to the Oxford Story Museum where we were propelled into a magical world of stories and literature. This immersive experience took the children walking through wardrobes into Narnia, sitting at C S Lewis’ desk, walking through an enchanted forest, listening to the trees who whisper stories and attempting to pull King Arthur’s sword from the stone. To link to our topic the children got to be involved in a ‘Here be dragons’ workshop, this involved listening to dragon stories, adapting these and acting out their own versions. This workshop has now inspired the children to write their own ‘dragon’ stories in our literacy lessons.
Harvest in our Classroom!
Class 2 are going to be learning and looking into the journey wheat makes from field to fork on its quest to make bread - watch this space!
Science Comes to Life!
This term, our science topic ‘Uses of everyday materials’ has been a hands-on adventure! The children have been identifying an increasing range of properties of materials for example materials that are translucent, flexible, strong, tough, breakable or brittle. Test materials to see if they can change shape by either squishing, bending, twisting or stretching. Identify and classify observations in a table. Sort materials and make comparisons between different objects.
Marvellous Maths!
This term, we are looking at place value. The children are using place value charts, part whole models and partitioning numbers up to 100. Excitingly as a school we have introduced Times Tables Rockstars! I am sure the children will have shown off their knowledge of this new and exciting website which will help them with their times tables fluency.
