News from Year 3
Coming Up in Class 3
Swimming: This term we start swimming again at St Andrews on Tuesday afternoons. An email has been sent out with the dates and request for parent helpers.
Home Work: During the summer term children will be completing weekly homework in their homework book and 4 pieces of homework from the Topic Homework Menu (linked below).
Class Trip: After Easter we will be visiting The Ashmolean in Oxford for a Roman Artefact workshop. Please make sure you have filled in your attendance form sent out by email.
Maths: Class 3 will start a new unit on Mass and Volume after Easter. We will be doing lots of practical weighing and measuring in the class room. To support this at home you could look and make some recipes with weight and volume.
English: To kick off our new topic of The Roman's we will be reading the book Escape From Pompeii and writing a newspaper article and diary about the event.
PSHE: This term we are coving the unit it It's My Body. Children will be exploring healthy habits, mental health and making healthy choices. If you have any questions about the unit please email class3@mill-lane.oxon.sch.uk
Computing: This term we will be using Word to write up our Newspaper Articles and Power Point to make a presentation about the Romans. Alongside this we will be using Minecraft education to build a Roman Villa.
History: Rome wasn't built in a day! We are very excited to be learning all about the Roman Empire, it's effect of Britain and what life would be like in Roman times.
Geography: Coming up this term we are learning about modern Europe; Countries, Capital Cities and man-made and natural geographical features.

Useful Information
Reading Books - children should bring their reading book in when they need changing and place in the basket in the classroom.
Homework - set on Fridays using Purple Mash (unless otherwise told by email). Homework menu sent out at the beginning of a topic to be handed in throughout the term.
PE - Thursdays PM
Forest School - Every Wednesday for half the class. Horse Chestnut group first half of term, Oak group second half of term.
Library Books - Changed on Thursdays.
Swimming - Autumn Term and Summer Term, details confirmed closer to term.
